WhatsApp’s 5 cool tricks which are very useful and you should know

With 400 million active users, WhatsApp is India's most famous instant messaging app. The company owned by Facebook continues to frequently add fresh characteristics to make the platform more engaging and convenient. While peer-to-peer messaging remains the key functionality, users can also post status updates, share stickers, and even create group video calls.

If you're a frequent user of WhatsApp, here's some of the cool tricks you should try out.

Download WhatsApp Status

Similar to Instagram Stories, WhatsApp allows users to post videos from Status. But did you understand that you can download status updates from Status feed, including pictures and videos of your colleagues?

One of the simplest ways is to download and install a Status Downloader third-party app. This Play Store free-to-download app enables you to download and share pictures. The app scans the status pictures you saw on your phone automatically and enables you to download and repost them.

Another way is to download an application for files. You can also download the ES File Explorer app while it operates with Google Files. Just tap any status and let the picture be loaded completely. Now open the app for the file and go to WhatsApp > select media > status. Note that you need to allow the application to display hidden files.

Who is making your storage full?

Which contact or group will mostly send you pictures and videos? To find out, open your smartphone's WhatsApp. Go to Settings > Open Use of data and storage > Use of storage. A list of contacts will be displayed including groups that consume your storage. The list is set by volume (MB or GB) chronologically.

Make WhatsApp data friendly

Low on data? WhatsApp provides a lot of characteristics in such a scenario to optimize the platform. You can first disable auto-downloading media. Go to Settings > Open Data and Storage Use > select alternatives such as auto-downloading media when using portable data or connecting to Wi-Fi. When making a WhatsApp call, you can also allow low information utilization. The function can also be found on this window.

Listen voice messages discreetly

Don’t have headphones around to check the voice message you’ve just received? Well, just tap on the play button of the voice message and hold the phone as you’d do while making a call. WhatsApp automatically stops using speakers to play the message and instead plays it through earpiece of the phone.

Format texts

You can also customise the WhatsApp text formatting. While there are a bunch of third-party apps that change font colour and style, you can also use some of the basic commands to format. To send a message in bold, type *example*. For italics, try _example_. For strikethrough text, type ~example~.
