How to capture screenshot in Laptop

If you have used MS Paint before than this method is for you. You can take Screenshot of your laptop or PC screen with PRINT SCREEN (PrtScn ) Button, and save it with the help of MS Paint.



Follow the Below Steps to take screenshot with MS Paint:

Step 1. On the screen where you want to take a screenshot, Press PrtScn button, or If you are using a Laptop , then you need to Press PrtSc+Fn ( Print Screen + Function Key ), and your screenshot will be captured.

Step 2. Open the MS Paint from the start menu.

Step 3. Now Press Ctrl+ V Keys to paste the captured screenshot on MS Paint

Step 4. Now You can save the screenshot via the File Menu or simply by pressing the F12 Key to your desired folder.

Second Method: With the help of shortcut Keys

The second method is a little bit easier than the first one. In this method, we will use some keyboard shortcuts to take screenshot and save it directly to the screenshots folder in your pc or laptop. 

Just follow the simple steps below:

Step 1. Go to the screen where you want to take the screenshot

Step 2. Now click the Windows key + Prt Scn keys (Print Screen) to capture the screen.

Step 3. Your screen will blink and your screenshot will be captured.

Step 4. A pop up box will appear asking the file name and the path where you want to save your screenshot.

Step 5. Just select the folder where you would like to save it or it will be saved automatically to the screenshots folder.


  • Capturing a screenshot without saving it:

If you do not want to save your screenshot and just want to  Paste it in any other program like MS word or Ms Paint, Just Press only the Print Screen (PrtSc) button and it will be captured and copied to the clipboard.


  • Capturing the screenshot of the active window

If want to take the screenshot of only the active window, then simply press the Alt with PrtScn Button ( Alt PrtScn keys) 
And the screenshot of the active window will be captured and copied to the clipboard. 
Then you can use the MS Paint to save the screenshot.


  • Capturing screenshot on Windows 10
If you are using windows 10 on your laptop, then you can use another shortcut to capture screenshot on you device. Just simply Press the Windows logo key along with the Shift and S Button ( Window+Shift+S) and you will see a cursor on your screen, Just select the area you want to capture and your screenshot will be copied to the clipboard.
Then you can save it with the help of MS Paint or any other software.

Third Method : using the windows snipping tool

There are so many ways to take screenshot in windows, and one of them is the snipping tool. 

Snipping tool is a screenshot program which comes pre installed on every windows PC or laptop.

You can find the snipping tool in the accessories folder, Just press the windows logo key to open the start menu and go to the accessories folder, and there you will find the snipping tool.




You can capture the screenshot with the snipping tool with the following steps:

Step 1: Go to the screen where you want to take the screenshot.

Step 2: Now Open the Snipping tool.



Step 3: Press the "New" Button, there you will find 4 options:

(i) Free form snip: with the free form snip feature, you can draw the area you want to capture with your mouse/ trackpad in any shape, and the selected area will be captured as a screenshot.

(ii) Rectangular Snip: with the Rectangular snip feature, you can select the area of the screenshot yourself (Like the free form snip) , but only in a rectangular shape. and your selected area will be captured as a screenshot.

(iii) Window Snip: with the window snip feature, you can capture the screenshot of the active window.

(iv) Full screen snip : With the full screen snip feature, you can capture the screenshot of the full screen.

Select the type of the screenshot you want to capture and go to the step #4

Step 4 : Click the Save button and select the folder to save the screenshot, and your screenshot will be saved to the selected folder in your pc.
